Our History

Tech Valley Internships was a New York State Department of Labor grant-funded program that began in 2008. It was created to help establish viable and meaningful internship opportunities for high school and college students with businesses and organizations in the Greater Capital Region. A unique partnership of local workforce and economic development agencies, Tech Valley Internships serves as the experiential connection for students and the employer community.

Tech Valley Internships was preceded by Beanstalk. Originally launched by the Center for Economic Growth in 2003, Beanstalk served as a clearinghouse to help connect college students with employers in the Capital Region and Tech Valley. The mission of both programs is similar - to retain high-quality students in the region in order to sustain a robust pipeline of talent for businesses and organizations in Tech Valley.
